ICU (2014)
Kinetický objekt ICU vznikl spíš jako žert v protikladu k velmi vážně pojatému projektu, který vznikal na stejné téma – dar (projekt _). Původní instalace sestávala z koule o průměru 1 metr, která byla připojena ke konci zakřivené hřídele tak, aby se mohla otáčet kolem své osy. Dvakrát zalomená hřídel procházela sádrokartonovou příčkou, za níž byl umístěný motor. Samotná koule byla pokryta zhruba 3500 takzvaných „googly eyes“ částečně zapuštěných ve vrstvě tmelu. Po spuštění se koule za strašného kraválu začala trhaně pohybovat po černé příčce a kreslit na ní kruh o průměru zhruba 3 metry. V pohybu se tak vlastně zorničky očí pohybovaly po trojí kruhové ose. Obíhaly nejen velký kruh daný délkou hřídele, ale také kruh daný průměrem koule otáčející se kolem své osy a nakonec kruh, který rýsovala zornička očka. Koule následně našla další využití v rámci výstavy Glass to Face v (A)Void Floating Gallery, kde fungovala jako jakási vidoucí bóje, plovoucí na vrstvě naplaveného odpadu, který proud nahnal ke kolesu starého parníku. Stala se tak pomyslným pozorovatelem světa nad i pod hladinou. Koule byla nakonec ukradena a podle nepotvrzených informací se stala jakýmsi votivním objektem mně bohužel neznámého tekno sound systému.

The ICU kinetic object was more of a joke to counterbalance the very serious looking project, which was inspired by the same topic – gift (called _). The original installation consisted of a sphere with the diameter of 1 meter, which was attached to the end of a curved shaft, so that it could rotate around its axis. The cranked shaft went through a plasterboard partition, behind which the engine was stored. The sphere itself was covered by about 3,500 googly eyes, partially embedded in a layer of putty. When turned on, the sphere started moving in a jerking motion along the black bar, making a lot of noise and drawing a circle about 3 meters in diameter. When in motion, the pupils followed a triple rotary axis. They rotated in a big circle drawn by the shaft, made another circle as the sphere rotated around its axis and finally there was a third rotary movement drawn by the pupils of the eyes. The ball was then used at the exhibition Glass to Face at the (A)Void Floating Gallery, where it functioned as a sort of a watchful buoy floating on a layer of waste drifting around the paddle wheel of the old steamer. The ICU thus became an imaginary observer of the world above and below the water surface. In the end, the ball was stolen and according to some rather unreliable sources, it has become a sort of a votive object for a techno sound system unfortunately unknown to me.
